How Do You Add Favorites On Youtube Tv?

Toward the end of last year I cutting the cable Tv cord and replaced it with CNET's favorite live Tv set streaming service, YouTube Telly. While I bask the solid channel lineup and endless cloud DVR of Google's alive Goggle box streaming service (along with the lower monthly bill), information technology'south still non quite as piece of cake to channel surf equally it was with my one-time Comcast Xfinity cable box.

With social distancing and self-quarantining hopefully keeping anybody home for the foreseeable future, people are likely spending more nights in front of the TV than before the coronavirus pandemic hit. For string cutters like me that means more YouTube Television. Hither are v tips to help you get the most out of the service.

Render to previous channel

I use a Roku TV remote to navigate YouTube TV, and information technology lacks aqueduct up and down buttons and a terminal-channel button. I've grown accustomed to not existence able to flip through channels as I did with cable TV, but that's a beliefs that decreased as I watched more than shows on Netflix and Hulu anyway. Cable Telly became more than appointment viewing for sports and news than simply turning on the tube and blindly hunting around for something to lookout.

Still, I miss the concluding button. I similar existence able to ping pong between two channels to avoid commercials. Sadly, there is no one-button solution to toggling back and forth between channels on YouTube TV. The fastest style I found involved four push presses:

  • Hit the down-arrow push three times and and then printing OK.

The upside is that pressing the downward pointer three times brings you lot to a row of thumbnails of the channels you lot've recently watched, which gives you more options than just the last channel you were on. The previous channel is ever the left-most thumbnail.

Get rid of the guide overlay

This ane took me weeks to effigy out. YouTube TV has a semi-transparent guide overlay, and with no Get out button on my Roku Tv set remote, there's non an obvious way to exit out of the guide and get back to what you are watching. The Dorsum button on the Roku remote brings upwardly the guide, but it doesn't leave out of information technology as I would like information technology to. At that place's a three-button sequence y'all need to know to get rid of the guide and continue watching the current channel:

  • Back
  • Upward-arrow
  • OK

No matter where you lot are in the guide and regardless of the view -- Library, Dwelling or Alive -- you lot are using, striking the Back button brings you to the summit of the guide. From there, the up-arrow push button will highlight the title of the prove you lot are currently watching at the very top of your screen. The OK push will and then select the current show and exit out of the guide.

Add to Library = record to cloud DVR

You can add together a Tape push to the list of buttons the Roku remote lacks. With my Xfinity cable remote, I could just hit the little, reddish record button to record a show. With YouTube TV, you don't "tape" shows. No, you lot add them to your library. (And you can exercise this freely because YouTube TV offers an unlimited deject DVR, although shows saved to your DVR library elapse after nine months.)

To add the show y'all are watching to your DVR library, hit the down-arrow button twice and then navigate to the "+" push and then hit the OK button.

To add an upcoming show to your library, select it from the Alive guide and then select More info where yous'll come across the Add to library button almost the top of the screen.

To stop recording a show, choose a testify in your library and navigate where it says Added to library and hit the OK push to deselect it.

Customize the channel guide

For this move, you'll need to log into your YouTube Idiot box account on your calculator or the YouTube TV mobile app. Head to Settings > Live guide. There y'all tin can elevate to reorder the channels as they appear in the Live view of your channel guide. You lot tin put your favorites at the pinnacle and can as well deselect channels yous don't watch to proceed them from cluttering upwards your guide. It's a bit of a pain to drag channels manually that are located near the bottom of the guide to toward the height because you tin can only elevate them so far at a time. A improve mode is to utilize the triple-dot button for your favorites and select Move to top and then drag them around once they are all located near the top of your guide.

One time you rearrange your channel guide, you'll need to exit out of YouTube TV and go back in to run across your changes.

Share with your family

While y'all're on your reckoner or mobile device, you can also prepare family sharing. Y'all can share your YouTube TV account with up to five people then each of you can lookout separately and create their own DVR library of shows. Only head to Settings > Family sharing to send email invites to the other members of your family unit. They'll need to accept their ain Google business relationship and be 13 years or older.
